We talked right at the beginning of this semester about how chord progressions are the backbone of the Beatles style to an even greater extent than in the Haydn or Handel. One of the results of this is that dissonances that would be considered melodic decorations in the earlier two styles are viewed as a primarily harmonic phenomenon (reflected in the chord notation used by pop musicians).
Today we took a look at some examples of this as well as considering the overall form and structure of a Beatles ballade.
